Gemius wins Czech internet traffic measurement tender

Gemius will remain the provider of internet traffic measurement for the Czech NetMonitor study for another five years. A key requirement of the tender was the ability to conduct the measurement without relying on third party cookies.

The gemiusAudience study, conducted in the Czech Republic under the name NetMonitor, is the only independent and audited measurement of internet traffic in the Czech Republic, providing the market with reliable data on traffic and the socio-demographic profile of users since 2000. Starting in March 2025, the project has been expanded to include data from global platforms (VLOP and VLOSE), thus providing a more comprehensive and versatile picture of the Czech internet.

An important tender requirement was the ability to handle the possible termination of third-party cookies. As a result, Gemius will use its proprietary measurement method in the Czech Republic, which it has developed and successfully implemented this year in Denmark and Belgium, among other countries.

The offers submitted in the call for tenders were analysed by a working group of 20 experts from the member companies of SPIR (Sdružení pro internetový rozvoj - Association for Internet Progress) and members of the board of directors.

"We are pleased that the current supplier has defended its position and that we will be able to seamlessly continue the existing cooperation. Gemius submitted a very high quality and economically attractive offer, which also allows for strategic flexibility in the future, e.g. the decision to extend the cooperation at a later stage. The strong support of the publishers for this supplier, based on many years of experience and proven cooperation, was also important," said Michal Hanák, Chairman of the Board of SPIR.

"We would like to thank SPIR for their trust and excellent cooperation during the tender process. We are happy to continue and develop the NetMonitor project together. We will focus not only on technological quality, but also on making the measurement results as beneficial as possible for the entire online market," says Lukáš Vinkler, Business Development Manager at Gemius.
