The most popular news websites in Romania

According to data from Gemius, more than half of PC users in Romania visit news websites. Check out the ranking of the most popular Romanian news sites.

Between January and June 2016, there was a visible increase in the reach of news websites among Romanian PC users (source: gemiusAudience). At the start of this period, news pages were visited by 50 per cent of internet users, while in May and June this indicator reached 52 per cent. The number of people visiting these websites ranged between 3.7 and 3.8 million PC users.

The most popular news websites in Romania

The most popular Romanian news websites are (in alphabetical order): Adevarul.ro, Antena3.ro, Digi24.ro, Evz.ro, Gandul.info, Hotnews.ro, Jurnalul.ro, Mediafax.ro, Realitatea.net, Stirileprotv.ro and Ziare.com. During the six-month period, their positions in the ranking did not change significantly, and generally by just one position. Adevarul.ro and Stirileprotv.ro passed the leader position back and forth, while Realitatea.net was in third place. These three portals stood out from the others, with reach among internet users exceeding 20 per cent. The record reach (24.2 per cent) was achieved by Adevarul.ro in January, attracting over 1.8 million people.

Calm in the middle

In the middle of the table, there were no changes in ranking placement. Gandul.info was in fourth place from January to June, with a reach varying from 15.1 to 15.8 per cent. In the next spot down was Ziare.com, which was visited by between 12.6 and 14.7 percent of PC users each month.

Movement at the bottom

The bottom of the table saw more changes than the top. The most highly fluctuating sites in the top 10 were Antena3.ro, Hotnews.ro, Evenimentulzilei.ro, Mediafax.ro, Jurnalul.ro and Digi24.ro. Although their placements in the ranking varied, each site attracted more than 500,000 internet users on PCs per month.
