Polish news media after the Russian aggression against Ukraine
Websites from the "Information and journalism - general" category on February 24-27, 2022 were analyzed in comparison with the corresponding period in the week preceding the Russian invasion. While in February 17-20, these websites were visited by a total of 14.1 million Polish internet users, on February 24-27 this number was already 18.6 million, which means an increase by 31%. On individual days, news websites were visited by an average of 12.4 million people, compared to 8 million in the week preceding the invasion. The strongest increase in the number of users (66%) was recorded in the group of the youngest internet users (up to 24 years of age), regardless of gender.
The average time of using websites in the discussed category increased from over 20 minutes in the period February 17-20 to over 54 minutes in the period February 24-27. It is particularly visible in the group of people aged 25-44, in which the time of using of the information services increased more than threefold. When analyzing the increases in terms of gender, we notice that while a slightly stronger increase in the number of people using information services took place in the case of men (+ 34% compared to + 29% in the case of women), the increases concerned more women than men in terms of use time (increase by 188% compared to 149% in the group of men).
About Mediapanel Research
Mediapanel is the first cross-media study in Poland based on a single source. The study combines site-centric measurement (measurement scripts at the site and application level) and user-centric measurement (panelists' behavior). In the production of data, we use proprietary, internationally recognized methodologies and algorithms. The Mediapanel study provides a complete and reliable picture of the Polish online market. It offers the possibility of analyzing and comparing the viewership of websites, applications and streaming materials on various types of devices, optimization of advertising budgets, comparison of traffic on desktops and laptops at home (PC-home) and at work (PC-work), as well as determining the position of the entity and its competition.
