Polish e-commerce market — expert’s perspective

Data on the Polish e-commerce market from the latest “E-commerce in Poland 2017. Gemius for e-Commerce Polska” report — commentary by Katarzyna Binert, Gemius expert.

The e-commerce market in Poland observes very dynamic growths and the introduction of the intended ban on Sunday trading can significantly speed up this trend. The growing number of buyers among young Internet users is not a surprise. September last year, Google turned 18 years, and thus the generation, which now turns legal age, had some experience with it practically from the moment they started their Internet adventure.

Shopping abroad

The number of shoppers who make their purchases in international e-shops will most likely continue to increase — the users look for products sold with more competitive prices or products that are unavailable in Poland. The EU legislation's application providing for a ban of geo-blocking as well as unifying prices for international shipping may have further impact.

Key importance of logistics for e-commerce growth

If we compare the results of the latest report with the last year's edition, we can clearly see the need for a faster and cheaper (or even free) shipping, which also is not a surprise. E-commerce will not work without efficient logistics.
