The analysis also demonstrated that both in Poland and Denmark customers storm the no-frills carriers websites in January. December is the least active month. In Turkey, however, things are different. The researched websites enjoyed the greatest popularity in September, and in February the number of visitors falls by half, reaching the year’s lowest.
E-passangers are 55+ or 25-34
Who are the e-flyers hunting flight bargains? In Denmark, 34 per cent of them are internet users over 55 years of age. In Poland, an average of 40 per cent of individuals visiting these websites are between 25 and 34 years old. Similarly, Turkish internet users of this age group account for 38 per cent of all users of the analysed websites on average.
The statistics kept by the European Low Fares Airline Association show that in 2013 low-fare airlines served 216 million passengers and carried out over 4.5 thousand flights. According to a report by York Aviation, an airline business consulting company, in 2010 budget carriers had a 38 per cent share in all flights in Europe.
The data quoted originates from an international project (gemiusAudience) conducted by Gemius in 36 countries. It aims to research into the number and demographic profile of internet users and the manner in which they utilize the web. The study is perfomed according to Gemius proprietary hybrid methodology and in accordance with the ICC/ESOMAR international code of conduct.
