Gemius: Insights into Estonia's most visited websites in July and August 2025

Internet technology and research company Gemius has published its latest data on the most visited websites from computers in Estonia during July and August 2025. The results reveal steady dominance of global platforms, modest changes among local news portals, and shifting competition between ecommerce sites such as Temu and Kaup24. The report also notes renewed growth for ria.ee and Wikipedia and provides a wider picture of online audiences across both PC and mobile platforms.

Global leaders face a mixed summer

Gemius data for July and August shows that the leaders remained unchanged, though their user numbers experienced some fluctuations. Google stayed firmly in the first place with 709 000 Real Users from computers in July and 724 000 in August, meanwhile, Facebook.com held steady in July with 538 000 users from computers, but experienced a drop in August and slipped under the half-million mark - 495 000 users. Youtube.com also saw a decline in July (467 000 users) but recovered slightly in August, reaching 476 000 Real Users.

Slight shifts among news portals

Estonia’s largest news sites showed slight changes in July and August, overall keeping their positions strong in the rankings. Looking at visits from computers, delfi.ee ended July with 405 000 users and August with 403 000 users, while postimees.ee fell to 326 000 in July but regained ground in August, reaching 336 000 users. Õhtuleht.ee remained in the second half of the TOP 20 websites, yet it still managed to grow its audience slightly in both months, reaching 138 000 users from computers in July and 141 000 users in August.

Audience comeback for ria.ee and wikipedia

The Estonian Information System Authority’s website ria.ee saw a sharp fall in July, losing 64 000 users (336 000 Real Users), but quickly recovered in August with nearly 29 000 new users and finished the month with 365 000 Real Users from computers. Wikipedia also showed a strong comeback. After a drop in July, it grew by more than 11 percent in August and attracted 269 000 Real Users.

Ecommerce platforms on the move

July brought strong growth for temu.com, which increased its audience by 13 000 users to reach 179 000 Real Users in the computer platform, the biggest rise among the top sites, however, kaup24.ee moved in the opposite direction, slipping by 9 000 users to 149 000 Real Users. In August, the situation for temu.com changed - it saw a steep decline, dropping by 21 000 users to 158 000, while kaup24.ee edged down only slightly, decreasing by 2 000 users to 147 000 Real Users.

What else has happened?

Some changes occured in the top rankings - in June, the top was left by emta.ee and inforegister.ee, while telia.ee (137 000 Real Users) and reddit.com (134 000 Real Users) joined, however, in August bing.com fell out of the top, and was replaced by booking.com (135 000 Real Users).

Visits from all platforms together

The combined statistics from both PC and mobile platforms show that in July the news portal delfi.ee attracted 683 000 Real Users, and this number grew to 692 000 in August, while õhtuleht.ee saw an opposite trend, with its audience falling from 387 000 users in July to 381 000 in August. The email service mail.ee also experienced some flactuations, decreasing from 90 000 to 86 000 users over the same period, and lastly, the business-oriented site rup.ee reached 18 000 Real Users in July and 15 000 in August.

The top is based on data about internet audience that is aged between 15 and 74 years of age, is from the territory of Estonian state and visit sites from computers. gemiusAudience research is based on a complex and modern methodology that allows to see the number of real persons (Real Users) within a page, rather than looking at cookies or IP addresses that do not show the number of actual persons visiting the relevant page.
